Vanessa has spent her career fighting to ensure every North Tulsa resident and family has the resources and they need to thrive.
Her effective advocacy and leadership has brought development, investment, and opportunity to our community.
She's tough, tested, unbought, unbossed, and in this fight for all of us.

A healthy community has adequate and affordable housing that enables good physical and mental health which depends on homes being safe and free from physical hazards and harmful exposures, thus providing families a sense of privacy, security, stability and control; and promotes healthy neighborhoods by providing safe places for children to play and for adults to exercise that are free from crime, violence and pollution.

A healthy community is food secure, with grocery stores, farmers markets, community gardens, and ample access to healthy and fresh food. Vanessa championed the development of Oasis Fresh Market and will not stop fighting until all North Tulsa families can get the quality, affordable groceries they deserve.

Vanessa works every day to strengthen public safety in our neighborhoods. She has led the fight for more transparency and accountability from law enforcement, increased funding and support for firefighters, and more resources for mental health supports. She's also advocated for more infrastructure development across North Tulsa, including better sidewalks, more streetlights, and more access to parks and greenspace for our youth. Vanessa will always fight to ensure our neighborhoods and our community is a safe and prosperous place where all families can thrive.

A healthy community has adequate public transportation that provides access to jobs and educational opportunities; medical treatments and doctor’s appointments; access to healthy food outlets and places for play and being physically active. Vanessa will continue advocating for better access to rapid, reliable, and affordable transit options.

Communities with adequate and affordable housing, access to healthy food, an adequate number of police and fire officers and adequate public transportation are attractive to potential businesses. Healthy communities are more productive, have fewer health care costs, are more active and encourage spending. Vanessa has spent her time on the council working to uplift Black-owned small businesses, expand opportunity through projects like GEM (Greenwood Entrepreneurship at Moton), and protect the community's voice in key projects like the Kirkpatrick Heights Development. She will keep fighting to ensure the spirit and excellence of Black Wall Street is alive in all of District 1.
